Best Places for Family Photos in Lexington, South Carolina

Lexington and the surrounding Columbia area have several beautiful spots that work perfectly for family sessions. Here are some of my favorite locations that consistently create stunning photos.
Leonard L. Price Gardens
Lexington, SC
Leonard L. Price Gardens is one of Lexington’s most charming hidden gems. The historic white chapel-style building creates a timeless and elegant backdrop, while the surrounding gardens add a peaceful, natural feel.
This location is perfect for families who want photos that feel classic and refined. The brick walkways, greenery, and small bridges create a lot of variety in one area, allowing us to capture multiple different looks during the same session.
Golden hour here is especially beautiful as the warm sunlight filters through the trees surrounding the gardens.
GIBSON POND PARK
LEXINGTON, SC
Gibson Pond Park is one of the most scenic spots in Lexington for nature-filled photos. The calm water, tall pine trees, and wooden overlooks create a beautiful outdoor setting that feels relaxed and natural.
This location works especially well for families who want a peaceful, nature-inspired look. The reflections on the pond during sunset can create some really magical images.
There are also several walking paths and open areas that allow kids to move around and interact naturally during the session.
OLD MILL POND
LEXINGTON, SC
Old Mill Pond has one of the most unique views in Lexington. The water, historic mill structures, and surrounding fall colors create a really beautiful setting for photos.
In the fall especially, this location becomes incredibly vibrant as the trees around the water change colors. The walking paths and open lake views make it perfect for relaxed family sessions where we can capture both posed portraits and candid moments.
The calm water and wide-open views give photos a very peaceful and timeless feeling.
VIRGINIA HYLTON PARK
LEXINGTON, SC
Virginia Hylton Park is another wonderful location for family photos. The park has a mix of walking trails, open areas, wooden structures, and quiet forest scenery that makes it incredibly versatile for photoshoots.
One of the things I love most about this park is the variety it offers. We can capture natural woodland images, relaxed walking shots along the trails, and cozy seated moments in the wooden gazebo areas.
This location works especially well for families with young kids because there is plenty of space to move around and explore.
